Introducing @AllRE13: You know you’re innovating when people say you’re a lawsuit waiting to happen

Standing on stage to present isn’t easy at the best of times. But talking about innovating in real estate has gutsy written all over it. Either that or you’re completely naive and are about to spunk a lot of (somebody else’s) money.
Allre.com was ‘revealed’ at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco. And it was as good a pitch as you’ll ever see.
It seems this is a FSBO site with some added extras to the usual listings service. The aim is to transact property without a Real Estate Agent.
The service helps with valuations (The ‘Value Bar’ tool, is VERY cool), paperwork and marketing.
While there has been obviously a lot of thought put into Allre.com, it’s that last point that most people ignore: real estate is about selling. It’s a numbers game, first and foremost. That is why efficiency just doesn’t matter. Service gets left to the wayside because the most important thing is getting enough people through the door to get lucky and have one or more make an offer.
The premise behind Allre is admirable, but I can’t help but feel Kathy Dryden and Dave Mercer are missing the bigger picture: property owners are lazy.
It’s not their fault, they’re new to this. Allre has the groundings of a really cool evolution for Real Estate Agents, who can provide a differentiated service to their clients. More transparency could make for agents that people don’t hate and feel provided value.
Property sellers and buyers may grumble about the fees they pay, but generally you get what you pay for.
Agents aren’t going anywhere. People will always use them. But they may appreciate them better if Real Estate Agents used software like Allre.com
