A smile can go a long way ~Author

This is a short story about expressing who you are not what you have

I have four young adult children and no matter what is going on in my life or theirs when they walk in the room I smile.

The smile is not because everything is going right or something is needed. I smile for many reasons but one of the main reasons I smile is because I want them to know I’m so honored to have them, they are close in age and resemble one another a great deal.

They are the people I love most on the planet and the only ones that come from me. Yes, my reasons are selfish but that’s what makes me smile.

What makes you smile? Do you make other people smile when you enter a room?

I pose this question because I live in a diverse community and I notice that when I catch someone’s eye and smile at them, I get it back almost all the time.

I use my kindness as a commodity not because I want something but because it’s who I am. Don’t confuse kindness with a doormat.

Kindness can be seen in the eyes, a helpful gesture and a smile can go a long way.

I value genuine kindness, I know how it feels to be treated harshly for no reason.

Kindness is that commodity that cannot be bought or sold you either have it or you don’t.

Kindness can make you a friend or a foe. It can get you in places your credentials cannot.

Sometimes we never know what a person is facing and being kind can change the course of their day or perhaps their life.

Thank you for reading.

Be Well!
