Refuse To Be Average
Why be average when extraordinary is available ~ Author
Life is brief, we only come this way once. We will never have today again and I decided to not only enjoy every day I get but be intentional with certain areas of my life. I decided every day to play my favorite gospel song. I decided every day to eat healthy and also have a day that I eat a little less healthy.
I have adopted my kind of extraordinary based on my life, goals and what is best for longevity. It’s important to recognize limitations but not limit yourself. Every day has different circumstances but looking at the man in the mirror is the first step to having extraordinary moments.
What my extraordinary is may not be yours. I always recommend to people to find their kind of beauty. In other words, what is the thing that brings out the best in you, keeping a spotless home, walking daily or helping at your nearby community center? There is no easy way to figure out your extraordinary other than walking life out and learning who you are.
There is no shortcut, no way of skipping a class in life, whatever you don’t learn or you avoid this season will show up in another season. The long road home is what I call it, on the long road to extraordinary it will sometimes wait for you outside your dorms after a night of partying. The long road home will wait for you in a doctor’s office because you refuse to take your health seriously.
I cannot be sure of when I got the lesson on extraordinary but I can say I had so many losses from shortcuts that I decided in my late twenties that I would take the long road. For those who may be wondering what is the long road. The long road can be poor behavior, life circumstances, poor eating, lack of discipline, overspending and that is just to name a few.
I learned a little secret about life that is not often talked about, the secret that I discovered is it takes almost your entire life to become the person you need to be. I also sense that not everyone realizes this or understands what is required to be who you are destined to be.
Not everyone will have the same challenges but the long road to being extraordinary is a lifelong endeavor.
Let the journey begin…
