Looking at the present, reading books has been an effective way of gaining knowledge. You can see people with a book in their hands even if they are traveling. This thought once strike my mind:

“Can people really concentrate on the book while traveling?”

But now, when I think of that, I can clearly understand that it’s their passion, their habit, or say kind of drugs, without which their day remains somehow incomplete. I don’t know how catchy they are with the texts in the book, still, their passion is the key to drive them.

Looking into the past, the way to deliver knowledge was by reciting. They recited with some rhythm that would make it easy for the one to understand.

There were some groups of intelligent people who had a vast range of knowledge. They were people with wise characters. These people traveled to different places and gave knowledge to the people.

Years kept passing, the number of intelligent people went down, and it became difficult to give knowledge to people at their doors. So, the effective way then became was writing “book”, the distribution would then be easy and effective too. In today’s world, Book has been an “authentic” source of knowledge.

“I am more afraid with the people without book than the one with gun in their hand”- Unknown Writer

Last week, I found that few Proshorians do have a habit of reading books. In this blog, we’ll be picking different books that Proshorians are reading currently.

1. Harry Potter Series (The Prisoner of Azkaban)

Genre: Fiction

Many of you have surely heard of Harry Potter. J.K Rowling the famous author of the book has surely attracted the young generations. Chhitiz has been recently reading this book, let’s get to know more about this book from Chhitiz

Q: What inspired you to go through this book?

I had always been a potter head as I had multiple marathons of Harry Potter movies, watching lots of harry potter theories, and reading a lot of articles. Even my profile picture of google is of Gryffindor, the house I was sorted to by Pottermore. And moving on to the books, I did manage to get my hands on books 1&2 when I was a kid, read them, and never got back when I passed it to my friends. Always wanted to own the whole series of the book but was not committed enough. And during this lockdown SuperCarlinBrothers came up with series Dumbledore’s BIG Plan, upon completion of that series I was committed and motivated enough, but still was not sure whether to buy the set of books or not. And one-day ad of books came up on my Instagram feed, that was the push I needed and I ordered the book then and there

Q: What are the things in the book that you would like to particularly point out?

There are two points that have stuck with me about this book:

  • “Eat, you will feel better” a line by Professor Lupin.
  • The moment Harry saves himself and Sirius from dementors, he was waiting for his dad to come and save them until the last monument where Harry could see Sirius’s soul being sucked out by dementors(Dementors kiss). And the movement he realizes, no one is going to help him but himself. He runs down to the frozen lake and Screams “Expecto Patronum” and congers Patronus charm so powerful that drives 100’s of dementors away. This is the movement when we realize how powerful Harry Potter really is. The movie also portrayed this scene perfectly, it gives me chills every time I watch the clip.

Q: What suggestion would you like to give to future readers of this book?

  • One time read is not enough.
  • It would be great if you watch Dumbledore’s BIG Plan series from SuperCarlinBrothers on YouTube.

2. Veronika decides to die by Paulo Coelho

Genre: Fiction

Paulo Coelho is a proven “bestselling author” and his books are loved by a lot of readers around the world. “The Alchemist” has been among the popular books from Paulo Coelho. Let’s get to know more from Pratiksha about this book

Q: What inspired you to go through this book?

I had this book on my “to read” list for a long time. The book title itself is quite intriguing. After reading a few reviews and a bit of research, I found out that the writer wrote this book based on his own experiences with mental institutions. The book explores the realm of sanity which seemed to be an interesting read.

Q: Any points on the book that you would like to share?

The story revolves around a girl in her mid-20s who has seemingly everything in her life. But she feels a void in the comfortable monotonous life she’s living, and so decides to end her life. Sounds stupid? As you go through the protagonists’ past, fear, and perception of the world, it’s frightening how much you can relate to her. As Veronika goes on to find reasons worth living, we realize that we all are a bit insane, and maybe it’s good; liberating even to be insane. The book explores what is sane and what is insane, concluding that sanity is what the majority of mad people consider normal.

Q: What advice would you like to give to future readers of this book?

Aside from being an amazing work of fiction, the book forces you to pause and reflect on how you are living your life. You won’t ever regret picking up this book. In the middle of the book, the story might feel a bit slow and stretchy. However, the desire to know what happens to Veronika at the end will keep you hooked up.

This was all for today — two great non-fiction books, two different views, and most importantly great insights. There’s nothing that gives you inner satisfaction unless you read and eat, or unless you have the knowledge on any aspect. It makes you happy, it brings charm to your personality, and no doubt, it gives you confidence. Every great character had books in their hand with different visions in their head, that’s why the earth has been where it is! If you don’t have the proper way to get started into your career, spend some time with books. I am pretty sure if you pick the correct book, you would witness the world within you.
