Spotlight on Innovation: Ryan Schultz and Mike Aldworth Discover EdPuzzle
The Challenge: Help students stay focused on key ideas in short videos, and assess student knowledge and proficiency as they practice.
The Tool: The free website, EDpuzzle.com, allows teachers to trim instructional videos and embed questions for student responses. Students use an access code to view class videos, and the EDpuzzle website tracks student progress and responses, providing teachers with easy-to-read feedback.
Examples: Watch this short example of a video Mike Aldworth’s Spanish students are using. When the video stops, a question pops up. Mike has set the video so that it will not go on until the student has answered.
Creating a class in EDpuzzle consists of nothing more than giving students an access code. Below is a short video explaining the process.
The Result: EDpuzzle allows students to work on skills at an individualized pace, and it provides teachers with a formative assessment of student progress. And it’s free. Fabulous!
