Spotlight on Innovation: Math Teacher Mike Riedy
The Challenge: Provide students with the rehearsal and reinforcement opportunities of a flipped classroom without giving up the face-to-face engagement of a live lesson. Read below for more about Mike Riedy’s “Backwards Flip.”
The Assignment: Record every classroom lesson, including student questions and responses, and post a link to this lesson onto the Schoology class site.
The Tools: A Smart Board, a directional microphone, and the Screen Flow app.
The Result: Students are able to review and rehearse difficult concepts while also playing a role in the creation of each class lesson.
The Next Step: Teachers who record their lessons will help their departments build an archive of recorded lessons available for struggling students, new teachers, and substitute teachers.
