Week 8: Adapting Generative Methods

March 22–28

The previous week we realized that were going to have a serious problem with participants, but despite all odds, we have created a diary study, a miro workshop, and managed to get 2 participants for the diary study and 3 for the workshops.

Workshop 1: Ami

Ami did really well when it came to sorting and took to the new metaphors workshop quickly. When it came to prioritization she shifted cards to really show her love of teaching and prioritization of students' needs. In her Futures game she prioritized the role of equity in the future.

Workshop 2: Matt

Matt was very thoughtful about his answered and shared his belief that school should be much more than just places of learning, but that she should grow from and contribute to thier community. But, he also clarified that difficult and exhausting role he was in. His relationships with students and teachers were sometimes a struggle, but in both cases he was able to propose new methods and ways that might improve in the future. Most interesting was Matt clarifying that a dark future for him would be a world without teachers.

Workshop 3: Aubrey

Aubrey gave us insight into the specific difficulties of COVID and was free and open about how sometimes the biggest problems is the parents and the relationships that must be built there. She mentioned wishing there was more trust and often feeling like a signpost for her students. While we lost time to do the Thing from the Future game, she was helpful in talking about the support system she had with her fellow teachers.

Summary

While it was a lot of information processing we were able to express and show the common trends across the theme. These insights would bekey in the creation of our presenations.
