Last post we explored the suppressors, the things that cause you to doubt or diminish your self-worth. And I told you that self-worth can never come from things outside of yourself. Self-worth comes from the inside. So let’s look at some things that build up your self-worth.

The list is endless, but here are a few key ideas that have worked wonderful for me:

Give yourself small victories.

Yes maybe you want to take your company public and become a billionaire. But that might take more than a minute. So how about giving yourself an initial goal to form the company and start operating? Then celebrate and reward yourself for achieving an intermediate goal.

Spend time with people who build you up.

You do not need more input from people who want to tear you down, tell you why what you’re doing is a bad idea, or why it won’t work. They may mean well, they may not. But either way they are harmful to your self-esteem. So be mindful who you interact with and make an effort to spend more time with people who build you up.

Spend daily self-development time every morning.

The mindset you create at the beginning of the day dramatically impacts how the rest of your day goes. So meditate, read, exercise and other things that nourish your mind, body and soul. (Start with this podcast on “Rethinking Failure.”)

Commit a random act of kindness.

The simplest things can create immeasurable joy. You take the focus off yourself to help someone else, and that actually makes you feel better about yourself.

Set aside a few minutes midday to stop by this blog.

Say hello and get a little recharge to get you back to a positive mindset.

Like I said, the possibilities are endless. If you have a great tip for building your self-worth, please share it below.
