In the last post, I told you that changing your thought process is one of the most important transformations you can make to become healthy, happy and prosperous. Let’s explore some additional ways you can apply this process.

Next up on my “change your thought process” list would be exposure to people who haven’t fallen victim to what I’ll call herd thinking. Herd thinking is contagious, because of all the millions of memes floating around the world today. They feed on each other, creating a mass consciousness of habitual thinking, unquestioned assumptions, and easily manipulated individuals.

This resulting mass consciousness of the world today is one of poverty consciousness and limiting beliefs. To prevent infection, it’s vital that you surround yourself with people who think different than the crowd. People who are capable of critical, lateral, linear, problem solving, and possibility thinking.

In the podcast on this subject I jokingly referred to people like this as extraterrestrials, because they don’t think like most people on this planet. They are contrarian thinkers and exposing yourself to their influence can dramatically alter your worldview.

Another important element to changing your thought process is actively nurturing your curiosity. The greatest breakthroughs of humankind have primarily come from people who were curious. Have some hobbies and varied interests that cause you to explore new and different areas.

Another thing that makes a real difference for me is scheduling thinking time. There may be no better way to innovate, think creatively, or brainstorm exciting new possibilities than spending time in quiet reflection. And in today’s hectic world, you probably need to schedule that time. One of the tangible benefits of this is that you come to original conclusions, not just be programmed with the opinions and ideas of others. Every week make it a point to block off some time in your schedule just for thinking.

There are four other elements to the thought changing process that we’ll pick up on the next post. Until then, would love to see your comments below.
