By Randy Gage in Critical Thinking, Success, Prosperity.

We’ve spent the week looking at three possible paths to a life of meaning:

  • Submerging oneself in a cause or group
  • Avoidance
  • Pursuit of meaning

Last post I told you I feel the third option is the only one that leads to a life that has you excited to be alive, to know that you’re moving from success to significance. So exactly how do we do that? How do we discover what lights us up, what we’re really meant to do, and grow into who we are capable of becoming?

If I only fucking knew…

Maybe some of you figured that since I do podcasts and post blogs like this, I have the meaning of life all sorted out. Sorry, I don’t. I’m just doing the best I can, with what I have to work with.

However, I’ve spent the better part of 30 years exploring this path and the rewards it holds for us. So while I don’t have everything figured out, please allow me to share some of the lessons I’ve learned, in the pursuit of becoming a more enlightened person:

  • Nurture your curiosity, and feed it a healthy daily diet.
  • Set your intention to be a little bit better person when you go to bed than you were when you got up.
  • Be a student of the deep thinkers. People who make your head hurt. (Right now I’m studying Zibaldone, which is making me feel like an intellectual waif.)
  • Don’t seek leaders to follow, but people you want to emulate and learn from.
  • Endeavor to help those less fortunate than yourself.
  • The only free cheese is in the mousetrap.
  • The greatest gift you can share is helping another person raise their aspirations and self-esteem.
  • You can’t get better and look good at the same time. Pay the price.
  • Stop playing it so safe. Live a life of exploration, adventure and audaciousness.
  • Forgive everyone. Especially yourself.

You got more? Love to hear from you below.
