Seth Mouton seriously believed that he could become the next president of the United Sates. He quit the race Friday. Eric Swalwell, John Hickenlooper, and Jay Inslee all seriously believed that they were actually going to become the next president of the United States. They’re out now.

Howard Schultz might or might not still believe he’s going to be the next president. But William Weld, and 22 other people absolutely still believe they are going to be the new president. Hillary Clinton was already measuring for new drapes in the White House. There simply was no way she could lose in 2016. These candidates don’t run because they think they might have a shot. They absolutely believe in their heart of hearts that once they got out to the people with their message, they will win.

Of course, they’re all delusional and crazy. But if you think they’re crazy, you should look at some other nut cases…

A peanut farmer from Georgia named Jimmy Carter, actually thought he could become president. Barack Obama, an upstart community organizer at the beginning of his young political career actually believed he could thread the needle of a longshot candidacy and get elected. Donald Trump, an egomaniacal, D-List Reality TV star didn’t actually believe he could win. But his wife Melania actually did.

You know how these last few stories actually ended though. So maybe these crazy, delusional people are not as crazy and delusional as we thought.

Maybe they were just intoxicated with hope. And maybe, just maybe, that’s a good thing.

What do you think? Please share your thoughts and in the next post, I’ll give you my two cents.
