Last post we looked at Self-Mastery, the confidence that comes from it, and the effect that has on those around you. When you possess Self-Mastery, you almost create a self-fulfilling sequence of success.

But let’s also understand that this is a process.

You’re probably going to start in life with jobs that you don’t love that much (or even dislike), and they don’t pay that much. Forgive me for sounding elitist, but I see those kinds of jobs as necessary, but also as jobs to be outgrown. A job at McDonald’s or the car wash is a great first job. I was a cook and a waiter, and a paperboy and a painter, and a host of other jobs to make ends meet along the way. And the experience of doing them helped me grow and develop to better jobs and higher pay, and more rewarding work.

There are no dead-end job, only dead-end attitudes. Be the very best employee you can be. Add so much value that you are underpaid. You will build a reputation as a person with integrity, one who can be counted on. And you will find your opportunities will continually expand and evolve. That is the real journey to self-mastery.

Along the way, you’ll discover your assignment — or probably more accurately — your assignment will discover you.

What do you think? Love to see your thoughts below.
