Your Most Formidable Foe
To develop into the highest possible version of yourself, you are going to have to take on one of the most formidable foes anyone has ever faced. And it is the same formidable foe all high level achievers must face…
Society.
That answer might shock you. You probably thought I would say yourself. And technically, that is true. The vast majority of the things that hold you back are in your head, like limiting beliefs and low self-esteem. But where did you get them? Society.
Society presents as a memeplex (a meme complex or network of interconnected memes). Memeplexes are created when various memes interconnect to work together in ways that they will build in protections for each other. In this case, it manifests as conventional wisdom, bad advice, doubt, cynicism, ridicule, and pressure to conform. Think of this memeplex as an immune system designed to suppress at attempts for greatness and great accomplishments.
The vast majority of people who make up what we define as society are good, well-meaning people. But they lack the self-awareness and judgment to recognize the programming that drives their day-to-day lives. They unknowingly contribute to a culture and society that are toxic.
Here’s the really insane aspect of all this…
People think it’s somehow healthy to conform to society. But that’s a trap, because society is sick.
You have to succeed in spite of the society that surrounds you. This requires tremendous tenacity, endurance and determination. You actually fight society in an attempt to save society. But you already knew that, didn’t you?
