With ups and downs, thorns and roses the Prosperous Capital and Credit Limited entered to the year 2016 with lots of hopes and goals.
And yes, they achieved it.

We are committed to building an empowered work force — proactive and trustworthy personnel’s with the knowledge, skills and creativity to achieve our goal. Without a passion for what we do, PCCL would not be able to function. And so we collectively work towards inspiring a culture of passion. Technology is key. We promote partnerships with stakeholders who share our interests. We have partnered with Prima Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd, Fonterra Brands Lanka and Link Natural Products (Pvt) Ltd for a number of our green initiatives as you will find out below. As a signatory to the UN Global Compact and a supporter of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We ensure gender equity in our work force, and employ female development officers. We don’t stop learning continuous improvement is the way we grow in our efforts to change the microfinance landscape in sri lanka
If we look back to PCCL’s inception, the first brand was opened in August 2014 in Sooriyawewa, a rural town in the southern region of the island. This pioneering venture paved a benchmark in the industry, by focusing on enhancing a region that had previously not been offered any aid or been catered to by conventional financial institutions.
A community in a dry and arid region lacking basic essentials to empower and grow, bereft of any irrigation systems pivotal for sustaining key livelihood means such as agriculture or farming. These challenges proved to be a catalyst to propel PCCL’s involvement in offering aid and support to help develop the Sooriyawewa community.
Thereafter, the functions and mechanisms of Prosperous Capital & Credit Limited were decentralized and disseminated with nine more branches established in a variety of regions in Sri Lanka.
Today PCCL functions as a fully-fledged Microfinance Company with an asset base of USD 2 million with awards of recognition to our name.

In January 2016
- The company relocated to the premises of the new Head Office
- Received the membership from the micro finance association.
- New branch openings was held at Ratnapura and Kesbewa.
In March 2016
- The International Women’s Day commemorative program was held at the Town Hall in Sooriyawewa.
- New branch openings were held at Kobeigana and Kaluthara.
- The staff at Narammala branch shifted to the new office building.
In May 2016
- Launch of the Ruk Ropa Plantation program Island wide.
In June 2016
- Received the — Asia Responsible Entrepreneur Awards.
Award category — Investment in People.
Award Title — Women Empowering.
August 2016
- New Branch Opening Thalawala and Jaffna.
October 2016
- Team Leader Mrs.Chamila Krishanthi from Ratnapura Branch has won the Bronze Medal — Best Sales Supervisor for SLIM NASCO Awards 2016 — Financial Products and Service Category.

Assar Ahamed Nafwan: — “I found out about PCCL’s “Raid” Islamic microfinance facility in my local masjid. I obtained LKR 250,000 — the first Islamic loan facility from the company under Waqalah to develop my grocery store. I settled the facility without any default and then obtained a second loan of LKR300, 000. My sale turnover has increased and I was also able to get a motorbike with my income.”
Mrs. SP Managalika — Sooriyawewa: — “I started sewing clothes as a self-employment opportunity. My machine was very old. Day by day my orders increased. My dream was to get a Singer electric machine. At this time I got to know about Prosperous Capital and Credit. I bought the sewing machine through a financing plan through PCCL.”
