Protea Alpha: How to Attend a Meetup
A Walkthrough on Staking and Withdrawing of Tokens

A few weeks ago we started an Alpha Test Series for our Protea Minimum Viable Dapp (MVD). This article provides a walkthrough on how to get started & attend a meetup on the Protea Alpha. Download uPort from your AppStore and set up your personal Digital Identity. Read more about uPort here.

Attendee DApp Interactions
In your mobile phone’s browser, go to alpha.protea.io and log in using your uPort ID by clicking “Get Started” and confirming the sharing of your Digital Identity in uPort when prompted; You are now logged into the Protea web DApp.
Protea does not keep a record of your private information!
First-time users are rewarded with free Protea tokens for joining. To claim your free tokens, click the “Claim Gift” button. Claiming tokens requires a transaction on the blockchain, so you need to sign this transaction in uPort once prompted.
Interacting with DApps can be pretty daunting, these days anyway! For our Protea Alpha meetup attendees, we wanted to make things as simple as possible. That’s why on a meetups detail page attendees are guided through a step-by-step user flow, always aware of where they are at in the process.
To RSVP to a meetup, either enter the hash address of the event under the “Attend” tab, or simply click the direct link provided to you by your organizer.

Once on the meetup detail page, click the “RSVP” button to stake tokens into your meetup event & to RSVP. The interface will update once your RSVP stake has been confirmed on the blockchain.
YOU ARE NOW ALL SET TO GO TO YOUR MEETUP!
The meetup organizer will confirm your attendance at the meetup and once she has ended the event, you’ll be able to withdraw your tokens again. Additionally you’ll receive an portion of staked tokens from those who RSVPd, but did not attend :)
Once your organizer has confirmed your attendance and ended the event, go back to the meetup details page (i.e. via direct link). Click the “Claim” button to withdraw your staked and earned tokens. Again, sign this blockchain transaction via uPort.
