This is old news: sorry — I’ve been busy. However, I observe it is now so old, that it has become news again!
So here goes … when one has to step out of the nice, cosy environment of your perfectly set up work machine, you’re going to need some help once in a while, because some of these problem machines are quite simply not going to have anything useful loaded onto them. Ever.
As usual, there is a deceptively simple and effective solution from the usual gang:
If you can download it, then you can run it, without having to leave any^H^H^H^H too much sticky residue on the machine. This is if we ignore Temporary Internet Files, Downloads and the “license read” registry key. Which to be fair, now seems to be the way of things.
Final point: with the advent and occasional enabling of UAC, you will see some of these tools do need admin to run will full functionality.
