Welcome to Episode 5 of Trend Talk!

Hello all, it’s Scott and on today’s episode, we’ll be talking about the “Reroll” mechanism from Valhalla and Trump Digital Trading Cards.

Trend Talk Episode 5: Reroll Mechanism & Trump Digital Trading Cards

Valhalla

Valhalla has been one of the most talked about and most popular projects for quite a while in the NFT community. Although the mint price of Valhalla was originally 0.5 ETH and as of now (time of writing), Valhalla is at a floor of 1.31 ETH, the price doesn’t reflect the fame of Valhalla.

Reroll Mechanism

The reroll mechanism is a huge hit and popular feat in the NFT community.

The image below portrays “THE ARMORY”. The reroll mechanism works via “The Armory” in which this allows holders to re-roll certain traits. All holders who wish to reroll must burn an “Armory” token first. The mechanism works by selecting the trait or feature that you wish to keep or change (reroll). After you select the specific trait, you burn an armory token to proceed.

After the armory token is burned, you will receive 3 new options with new traits added. The image above has the original/current status on the left hand corner and the options on the right show you the 3 new traits with Valhalla holding 3 different weapons.

The traits that Valhalla allowed or the re-rollable ones consist of the primary (weapon), clothing, and hair (only some are applied). You can reroll the traits you have, not the ones you don’t!

The reroll mechanism has “existed” in the sense from some NFT projects prior to Valhalla but it seems as if Valhalla has truly hyped up the reroll mech. Since the release of the reroll mechanism, the feat and Valhalla has gained much attention on Twitter.

Many are expecting more from what Valhalla will accomplish with time!

Trump Digital Trading Cards

Soon after Valhalla, Trump Digital Trading Cards became a huge trend on Twitter and news all over the world.

There were tons of memes all over Twitter and Instagram that can be considered hilarious while distasteful to some. Many have stated that Trump’s collection was just for his “fans” and “voters” but NFT degens proved this theory wrong.

Trump Digital Trading Cards were originally sold at $99 when first released and the floor has gone high as 0.80 ETH. As of writing, the floor price is now down 70% as the hype has died. Donald Trump’s collection sold out in one day, netting $4.5 million. Trump supporters were incentivized to buy the cards for entry to sweepstakes or prizes such as golfing at one of Trump’s resort properties, meeting Trump in person, and more.

Maybe more political figures will join Web3… or not.
