Proton pioneers DJ Mixes on Spotify & Apple, streams up 10% for included tracks.

In October 2019, Proton launched Phase 2 of our DJ mixes beta on Spotify & Apple Music. To our knowledge, more DJs have uploaded mixes to Spotify through Proton today than any other platform. And now, we can announce another exciting milestone.

On average, each of Proton’s mixes have boosted a featured track’s earnings on Spotify & Apple Music by over 10%. This means if your track gets included in 10 mixes, you could easily double your earnings from Spotify & Apple Music. And we’re just getting started!

Some mixes have boosted plays by over 1000%, but this 10% average for all mixes is something special. Because it powerfully demonstrates the appeal of DJ mixes on major streaming platforms. And it gives the independent & underground electronic music community a significant way to increase their exposure and earnings on platforms otherwise dominated by mainstream music and major labels.

Proton’s DJ mixes on Spotify & Apple Music not only help our labels and artists earn more, but we also pay 10% of all mix revenue to the DJs themselves. The DJ’s 10% comes from Proton’s own share as a distributor, so artists and labels don’t earn any less from a DJ mix as the unmixed original release. This incentivizes the DJ, music labels, and artists to promote each DJ mix without undercutting earnings from the unmixed original release.

Right now, Proton’s DJ mix beta is only available to the 1500 music labels powered by Proton and the 30K artists signed to those music labels.

• If you’re an artist not signed to a Proton label yet, you can easily submit a demo for free. After signing your 1st song to a Proton label, you’ll easily be able to start uploading mixes featuring your own tracks and any other Proton label you’re signed to. Your mix will go live on Spotify & Apple Music quickly and easily within a few days.
