On release day, electronic music artists and record labels are all too familiar with launch chores that distract from the celebratory vibes of dropping new music.

Thankfully, one of the more annoying, time consuming and costly chores is now free and automatic with the latest Proton invention: Release Links

Before the launch of Release Links, electronic music labels needed to spend time and/or money setting up a unified share URL for DJ stores (like Beatport) and streaming platforms (like Spotify), and then remind artists to share! This is finally a thing of the past, thanks to Proton.

Automate & Amplify… for free!

Release Links from Proton are free, automatic, and effective for generating a single, simple share URL for artists and music labels to amplify new music to a wider audience:

  • Auto-generated immediately when scheduling a new release
  • Incl. Beatport pre-orders + pre-saves on Spotify/Apple automatically.
  • Can be used before OR after the release date, no extra setup needed
  • Perfect for social media posts, promo links in premieres or blogs, etc
  • Artists also receive Release Links automatically on the pre-order date!

Proton designed Release Links with electronic music labels + artists lovingly in mind to include powerful and meaningful upgrades which we believe are NOT available together anywhere else. Here’s what’s included, with a little preview of what’s coming…

Mobile Notifications for Listeners

When fans pre-save a streaming release, they can choose to get a mobile notification (SMS, What’s App, email, or **coming soon!** Telegram). This boosts the chances fans actually listen on release day, compared to most link tree services that don’t actually send notifications?!

No Username/Password Required for Fans

Proton’s Release Links do NOT require Streaming fans to authenticate a Spotify/Apple account in order to get a pre-save notification. Almost all link tree services require this, but it’s an annoying step Proton removed. Thankfully fans won’t be turned off by a request to provide their Spotify/Apple login details to Proton.

Artist Mobile Alerts & Custom URLs

Every artist on each release gets sent a Release Link automatically on the pre-order date, without label owners needing to remember/spend time sending a message. This helps increase the chances of the artist sharing the link with their fans quickly when it matters most, amplifying the release to a wider audience on release day.

Label owners also don’t need to provide contact details for each artist — phew! Because Proton is a distributor who handles contracts/payments with artists, we already know how to best reach artists. During the contract signing process, artists can state their preference for receiving Release Links via mobile messenger, email, or not at all.

Artist Analytics for Music Labels (Coming Soon)

With Release Links, label managers can also see how many clicks + views they’re getting from shares of their Release Links, including at the artist level. This is a big deal, because…

Electronic music releases often feature multiple artists or remixers. With this powerful upgrade, label owners can see which artists on the release are generating the most engagement — or if they’re not generating any clicks at all, which might mean the label owner could check if the artists shared the link at all, and if not, send them a friendly reminder. :)

Insights for Release Links will also give music labels the ability to see how many clicks are generated from different platforms (like Beatport vs. Apple vs. Spotify) to get a better understanding of which platforms are most popular with listeners.

How can music labels start using Release Links?

Release Links are available now, free and automatically, for all music labels powered by Proton. After scheduling a new release, the Release Link is ready to go immediately! Proton label managers can learn more here.
