Tie your idea/project results to business goals.

Depending on the idea you are trying to launch, you may, in fact, not need an impact statement. If you do, then keep reading;

Here’s an example;

The Most Successful YMCA National Internship Program Ever — A Case Study was a complex national collaboration that required all the stakeholders to clearly understand the short and long-term social impact of our initiative.

Wordsmithing these bullet points was a challenge at first. Still, as we compiled success stories and observed the effect of our initiative, it became easier to come up with the right phraseology.

Leading a well-resourced initiative was am a fantastic opportunity.

A complex social impact assessment (SIA) may be well beyond the scope of your initiative. In general, Impact Statements will be roughly a third of a page in length and focus on a single theme or program.

A simple social impact statement;

  • State accomplishments and creates reliable support for programs.
  • Answers the questions; “So what?” and “Who cares?”.
  • Conveys accomplishments in simple language that is free of technical jargon.

Social Impact Assessment Background

It was a way to assess the impacts on society of specific development schemes and projects before they go ahead; new roads, industrial facilities, mines, dams, ports, airports, and other infrastructure projects.

It has been incorporated into the formal planning and approval processes in several countries, to categorize and assess how significant developments may affect populations, groups, and settlements.

SIA is often carried out as part of, or in addition to, environmental impact assessment, but it has not yet been as widely adopted as EIA in formal planning systems, often playing a minor role in combined social and ecological assessments.

Definitions for “social impact assessment” vary by different sectors and applications. According to the International Association for Impact Assessment; “Social impact assessment includes the processes of analyzing, monitoring and managing the intended and unintended social consequences, both positive and negative, of planned interventions (policies, programs, plans, projects) and any social change processes invoked by those interventions.

Its primary purpose is to bring about a more sustainable and equitable biophysical and human environment.” (International Association for Impact Assessment).

Across Canada, it was easy for my fellow collaborators and me to welcome and celebrate the energy, talents and challenges of young people and their adult mentors.

Internship programs create collaborations to garner resources that build relationships and enable young people to experience the exhilaration of engagement. They learn to make choices and acquire skills; learn to advocate on their behalf so that together, everyone collaborates and creates communities that are vibrant, inclusive and peaceful. — Dan Trepanier

Project management is the application of knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently. It’s a strategic competency for organizations, enabling them to tie project results to business goals — and, thus, better compete in their markets.

We do what matters to serve people with high standards and good practices in project management expertise.

I can help you clarify the wording of the immediate and long-term impact of your idea — Dan Trepanier.
