June 2020 will be marked as the pride month that put in-person pride festivals and marches on hold due to the coronavirus.

However, this has not stopped some pride festivals from taking their events online by hosting livestreams and smaller online events to commemorate the occasion.

Here are a few of them:

1. Pink Dot 2020 (Singapore)

Singapore’s annual pride gathering Pink Dot will now be happening online on June 27 at 6.30pm on their Facebook page. Attendees are encouraged to tune in and join in a nationwide light-up happening in the evening where they can shine pink lights from their room in a sign of queer solidarity.

Other queer-run and queer-inclusive events happening during Pride Month in Singapore include Prout’s very own flagship Virtual Queer Trivia Night on June 17 (Facebook link here) and Queer Zinefest SG’s daily weekday evening Pajama Parties edutainment livestreams on Instagram Live (link here).

2. Global Pride

A global pride, you say? Yes, organisers from various pride associations in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Canada are coming together to host a 24-hour livestream called Global Pride on June 27th from 12am GMT+1 (Facebook event link here).

The event will feature artistes such as Ava Max, Olivia Newton-John, Pabllo Vittar and Courtney Act. Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel and openly-gay Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil from India are among the speakers scheduled to attend.

3. Milan Pride

“We can’t do a parade. But it’s still a celebration,” said the organisers of Milan Pride on their Instagram page (link here).

Indeed, Milan Pride has turned their pride into a weekly livestream event on their Twitch channel (Twitch link here) every Wednesday for the month of June at 9.30pm Milan time.

4. Dublin Pride

Dublin’s pride event will be turning into a digital event on June 28, 2pm GMT+1 (Facebook event link here). Expect to hear submissions and stories from various LGBTQ+ community organisations as well as members of the public.

5. Toronto Pride

Toronto Pride (Facebook link here, website link here) has turned their entire pride festival into a Virtual Pride festival weekend from June 26–28 featuring an online pride parade as well as events for various LGBTQ+ communities such as Trans Pride, ASL Programming, Dyke Rally and Black Queer Collective. It is a virtual representation of events that would have happened physically.

You can also follow Toronto Pride on Twitch (link here) to catch their weekly Saturday pride stream, Stay Home Saturdays.
