Why should we support SEDA?

Blockchain networks have revolutionized the digital landscape, but they face a significant challenge: accessing data from sources outside their networks. This limitation hampers the full potential of blockchain technology, creating a disconnect between blockchain networks and traditional internet data sources.

To bridge this gap, smart contract-based systems called “oracles” were introduced. However, current oracle systems, or oracles 1.0, suffer from various shortcomings, including unsustainable economic models, centralized bottlenecks, and limited accessibility. These issues introduce a single point of failure, undermining the benefits of blockchain networks.

In response, SEDA offers a scalable and secure solution aligned with the principles of permissionless technology, heralding the next evolution of oracles, referred to as oracles 2.0.

Introducing SEDA: A Revolutionary Data Transmission Framework

SEDA Protocol emerges as a response to the challenges inherent in current data management systems within the Web3 space. While blockchain technology offers unparalleled security and decentralization, accessing and utilizing data across disparate chains remains cumbersome and inefficient. SEDA aims to bridge this gap by introducing a trustless data layer that seamlessly integrates with existing blockchain infrastructure.

How SEDA Works: A Modular and Secure Architecture

SEDA’s architecture is designed with versatility and interoperability in mind. By abstracting away the complexities of individual blockchain networks, SEDA enables seamless integration across multiple chains. This modular framework empowers developers to build applications that transcend the limitations of a single blockchain, unlocking new realms of possibility for decentralized innovation.

The SEDA network comprises four key components, each playing a pivotal role in ensuring secure and decentralized data transfer:

  1. SEDA Chain: Facilitates settlement, data storage, and distribution.
  2. Overlay Network: A Multi-Party Computation (MPC) network for secure data querying and computation.
  3. Solvers: Entities that relay data requests and results between the SEDA Chain and destination networks.
  4. Data Providers: Private data sources that plug into the SEDA Network.

The SEDA Chain and Overlay Network boast security guarantees consistent with leading layer-one networks. These guarantees are facilitated through game theory, cryptography, strong backstops, and a high degree of configurability and computability.

SEDA eliminates the need for any trusted authority role within the network, using specially designed economic incentives. Any entity can validate, relay, request, and supply data. As a fully interoperable layer one network, SEDA is universally accessible from any blockchain network with shared security.

Developers on destination networks can request both public and private data, depending on their desired use case. The SEDA Network incentivizes data providers to participate by allowing them to earn revenue based on the utilization and value of the data they provide.

Pioneering an Intent-Based, Chain-Abstracted Web3 Future

SEDA introduces the concept of “blockchain intents,” serving as programmable instructions for interacting with blockchain data. This revolutionary approach allows developers to express their data requirements in a blockchain-agnostic manner, enabling seamless data access across different networks. With SEDA, developers can effortlessly leverage the full potential of blockchain technology without being constrained by network-specific intricacies.

Mainnet Launch and Beyond

SEDA represents a critical evolution in Web3 data infrastructure, offering a scalable and flexible alternative to outdated oracle designs. By eliminating the need for native deployment required by traditional oracles, SEDA enables seamless, chain-agnostic integrations featuring protocol-led data feed configuration and customizable pricing models.

The recent launch of SEDA’s mainnet marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Web3 data infrastructure. With a robust protocol in place, developers can now harness the power of SEDA to build next-generation decentralized applications with ease. From decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms to non-fungible token (NFT) marketplaces, the possibilities are limitless with SEDA at the helm.
