In the fifteenth episode of our Funding the Future of Healthcare podcast series, we were joined by Virgil Bretz, who is the CEO of MacroHealth, and Dave Kereiakes, who is a Partner at Providence Ventures.

In this episode, our host Pat McKay spoke with Virgil to learn more about his background and career path in healthcare. We also took a chance to elaborate on MacroHealth, and how the healthcare fintech company is leveraging digital technology to focus on the financial side of healthcare, by helping its clients understand and navigate the often complex world of healthcare pricing. MacroHealth’s technology enables their team to provide support for health plans, provider-sponsored health plans, and medical provider networks to assist in optimizing the buying and selling of healthcare, but more importantly, to optimize transactions at scale.

The two went on to dive into the importance of having strategic guidance in healthcare, and how Virgil and MacroHealth have benefitted from the partnership with both Providence and Providence Ventures. Virgil and Dave also elaborated on how they coincidentally moved their careers to Seattle, WA at the same time, and how that benefited their ongoing partnership over the years. The duo also unpacked can’t-miss advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and investors looking to break into the world of health IT.
