How do you take notes? A question which will have hundreds of different potential answers. The personal nature of notetaking can then make it very difficult to share notes with others when collaborating on something like a project.

There is no shortage of electronic mechanisms for people to take and share notes, whether it be OneNote, Evernote, Apple Notes or even a Word document. Many notetaking apps support the nuances of how people want to work, whether it be apps for different platforms, capturing whiteboards or being able to take a picture of written notes.

Notes in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams offers a significant level of flexibility in capturing and sharing notes. Each Channel within a Team can include one or more apps for taking notes. These apps include

  • Wiki — By default, all Channels include a Wiki Tab which can used as a hybrid platform for conversations and sharing notes.
  • OneNote — A Tab can include either an existing OneNote Notebook, the one created with the associated Office Group or a new Notebook can be created.
  • Evernote — There is a range of integrations to Teams, including sharing individual notes in conversations, pinning notes as a Tab and searching Evernote.
  • Word Document — A Word Document can easily be created in the File Tab of a Channel and shared in a Tab.

Lots of options and there is not a right way to do it, instead Teams in different organisations will work differently. Organisations do, however, have the opportunity to set a standard and to educate users about the possibilities.

By using ProvisionPoint organisations have flexibility about how notes our shared within Teams. Different Teams can be pre-configured with Channels, Tabs and Apps. For example, some Teams could be created with Wiki Tabs included in Channels, while others Teams may include OneNote Tabs within Channels.
