This week, we turned over the camera and interviewed Lotta, our Communication & PR Manager. Lotta describes the challenges inherent to communication & PR in a blockchain start-up and shares her insights regarding the Proxeus project.
Since when are you involved in the blockchain space?
I have been interested in blockchain since 2017 when I started to learn about this technology from many different channels. However, I haven’t been actively involved in the blockchain space until I joined BlockFactory and Proxeus in May 2018.
What were your incentives to join a FinTech start-up?
FinTech and blockchain have been trending topics for a few years now. After constantly hearing about these concepts, I started to look into the technology and realized the potential of blockchain, which made me want to work in this field. Switzerland is an ideal place for anyone who wants to be involved in a FinTech or a blockchain company, and I was happy to find a suitable position for myself.
What are the challenges inherent to communication & PR in the blockchain space?
As the blockchain field is still in its infancy, new projects are constantly launched. One challenge is to stand out from all of these other projects, as the audience in the blockchain sphere is still quite limited in size.
Another challenge is to maintain an excellent reputation and, by doing so, to prove the legitimacy of our project. Unfortunately, not all blockchain projects have been legitimate in the past, thus creating a climate of suspicion within the blockchain space. Proving that a blockchain project is legitimate can be challenging at times. Luckily, we have a great and supportive community that believes in the project and makes everything easier.
How is communication different between a start-up and a large multinational?
First of all, everything moves faster in a start-up compared to a large corporation. As teams are also smaller in size, each team member has to accept a larger variety of tasks and responsibilities while bureaucracy is minimized.
What is the marketing strategy of Proxeus for the next few months?
We are currently positioning ourselves in anticipation of an upcoming market trend reversal and have been re-evaluating our strategy. Our communication will be centered around the product delivery as we are completing parts of the white paper. Until now we have mainly focused on PR, however, in the future, we will give more weight to marketing and we are also constantly exploring all options to access good exchanges and offer our community a broader access to XES.
What do you particularly like about the Proxeus project?
The Proxeus platform makes blockchain technology accessible to everyone and is simple to use — even for non-technical users, such as myself. These are very important factors and steps in making blockchain technology adopted by a large user group. I strongly believe that the Proxeus project has everything to succeed in doing so.
