The Stoop podcast digs into stories that are not always shared out in the open. Hosts Leila Day and Hana Baba start…
“The Stoop” brings race, identity, journalism, and creativity together in one place. On the show, Hana Baba and Leila Day get personal about what it means to be Black today while exploring Black life through intimate conversations, reporting, and personal storytelling. Digging deep into issues that aren’t always openly discussed except in living rooms, kitchen tables, and on the front stoop, “The Stoop” presents stories about Blackness in America and globally, and celebrates Black joy in all its diversity.
“The Stoop’’ is in the midst of its sixth season. Episodes this season have delved into Black Horror, polyamory/polygamy and breaking traditional standards of what a relationship should look like, discipline, thick bodies, and more. A new episode of “The Stoop” is available today, embodying people’s favorite sounds of Blackness. The episode also features celebrated poet Nikki Giovanni.
An independent production, “The Stoop” joined Radiotopia in April 2021.
Previous Apple Podcasts Spotlight selections include “Spinsters” with Haley O’Shaughnessy and Jordan Ligons, “Pantsuit Politics” with Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers, “Were You Raised By Wolves?” with Nick Leighton and Leah Bonnema, and most recently “Griefcast” with Cariad Lloyd.
