“Normal Gossip” and “Articles of Interest”

Listeners are invited to tune into new episodes of “Articles of Interest” and “Normal Gossip,” independent podcast network Radiotopia from PRX shared today. “Articles of Interest” is now returning to audiences with new episodes on an ongoing basis. “Normal Gossip” — the popular podcast about the weird, strange world of normal people’s gossip — is back with a new season, its first as part of Radiotopia.

A show about what we wear from creator Avery Trufelman, the “Articles of Interest” podcast first returned to listeners in October 2022 with “American Ivy,” a multi-part series about the surprising story behind preppy style and fashion. The series was named both a 2023 National Magazine Award finalist and Tribeca Audio 2022 Official Selection, and the podcast was named one of the best podcasts of 2022 by “The New York Times,” “The New Yorker,” “The Atlantic,” and more. Now, the show is bringing audiences new episodes on an ongoing basis, every other Wednesday.

New episodes of Articles of Interest” will span an array of stories, including the commerce of clothes through the lens of the movie “Clueless,” featuring the film’s director, an exploration of making and breaking tradition via ballet shoes, the story behind the creator of the Black Fashion Museum founded in Harlem in 1979, and a probing examination of safety audits in garment factories as 2023 marks the 10 year anniversary of the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh, the deadliest garment factory disaster in modern times.

In late February 2023, Radiotopia from PRX welcomedNormal Gossip” from Kelsey McKinney, Alex Sujong Laughlin, and Defector Media to the podcast network, which kicks off a new season today. New episodes will be released every Wednesday through June 7. Featuring juicy, strange, funny, and utterly banal stories which are anonymized and told to a guest, today’s episode features a story of a love triangle at a local farmers market, with acclaimed chef Samin Nosrat joining as special guest (“Salt Fat Acid Heat”; “Home Cooking”).

Listeners are invited to tune into “Normal Gossip” to hear new stories and surprise guests. To date, stories have ranged from a One Direction concert with a terrible paper cut-out, an HOA debacle involving catnip, a flushed hot dog that became family lore, and a knitting circle with a deep secret. Gossip-spilling guests have included Samantha Irby (“Quietly Hostile”), Lindsey Webber and Bobby Finger (“Who? Weekly”), Josh Gondelman (“Desus & Mero”), Laci Mosley (“Scam Goddess”), and more. “Normal Gossip” launched in 2022 to fast acclaim, quickly beloved by listeners and by critics alike and named among best podcasts of the year by “TIME,” “The Verge,” NPR’s “Fresh Air,” and by “Vulture” in a podcast industry survey of more than 200 producers.

“Articles of Interest” and “Normal Gossip” are available free on-demand on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, Pocket Casts, and Overcast.
