Acclaimed audio creators Ian Chillag and Mike Danforth today released the audio trailer for “In the Scenes Behind Plain Sight,” a new rewatch podcast for “Behind Plain Sight” … a television show that never actually existed. It’s all made up.

In the Scenes Behind Plain Sight” is a part of Radiotopia from PRX, the award-winning network for independent audio creators. The audio trailer is available now, free on-demand across all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, Overcast, and Pocket Casts. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays, beginning November 16.

In this genre-breaking series, former “Behind Plain Sight” co-stars Ian and Mike share behind the scenes stories, secrets, and memories as they rewatch and recap all five seasons of the hit 2002–2007 TV show. In episode one of the podcast, they reunite and begin their episode-by-episode rewatch. The show will also welcome Ian and Mike’s co-stars as special guests (at least the ones who will answer their calls) as well as the show’s writers, producers, and crew members (despite the fact that Ian and Mike never learned any of their names at the time). They’ll also talk about what’s going on in their lives now (not much is going on in their lives now).

“In a world of TV rewatch podcasts, here’s another one,” said Chillag. “With any luck, the show will catch on and we’ll be able to do what we’ve always wanted to do: get our audience 20% off their first online mattress order using promo code ‘Behind Plain Sight.’”

“We’re just excited to be making a podcast at a time when so few people are,” added Danforth.

Chillag and Danforth

The TV Show “Behind Plain Sight” followed Chris, a man who witnessed a mafia murder and chose to hide out in the last place anyone would ever suspect–a place where there are no disguises: a nudist colony in Florida. Hijinks ensue as Chris tries to blend in with a cast of wacky characters at Funsations, all the while staying one step ahead both of the mafia and of Jam, the de facto mayor of Funsations who suspects Chris is not what he seems.

Close collaborators, Chillag and Danforth co-created the cult favorite advice podcast, “How to Do Everything,” in 2011. Chillag is also the creator of the beloved podcast “Everything Is Alive” — also a part of Radiotopia — the unscripted interview show in which all the subjects are inanimate objects, and has served as a producer for “Fresh Air.” Previously named among the best podcasts by IndieWire, TIME Magazine, The A.V. Club, and more, “Everything Is Alive” has been praised as “ticklishly absurdist… with surprising moments of poignancy” by The New York Times, as “made with care and understated wit” by The New Yorker, and by the BBC as providing “laugh-out-loud funny examinations of the human condition.”

Danforth is executive producer of the wildly popular “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” public radio show and podcast from NPR.

“We’re thrilled to continue to partner with Ian Chillag, and newly with Mike Danforth, who have helped to shape some of the most popular radio shows and podcasts out there,” said Audrey Mardavich, Executive Producer of Radiotopia from PRX. “Listeners will love spending time with these two entertaining yet poignant voices and minds, in a podcast that’s refreshingly imaginative and hilarious.”
