Innovative Content Studio Project Brazen Announces A New Podcast Partnership with PRX, Beginning with the Launch of “Resistance: Stories from Ukraine”
Project Brazen is expanding its relationship with PRX to release a new slate of premier podcasts in 2022–2023, underscored by impactful journalism and extraordinary narratives from around the world. “Resistance: Stories from Ukraine” will launch May 5 with weekly first-person accounts from Ukrainian citizens facing war, followed by a new series launching this summer featuring stories from the tumultuous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan
Innovative content studio Project Brazen, founded by bestselling authors and Pulitzer finalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope, today announced it has entered an overall deal with public media organization and leading audio publisher PRX to launch a slate of multiple new podcasts over the next year. This expanded partnership follows the success of Project Brazen’s “Fat Leonard,” an investigative podcast examining corruption in the U.S. Navy, which was distributed by PRX in 2021.
The debut podcast from this new partnership is “Resistance: Stories from Ukraine,” a new series produced by Project Brazen and distributed by PRX, launching Thursday, May 5th, free to listeners everywhere across all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, and Amazon Music. The twice-weekly series will feature first person accounts from Ukrainian citizens confronting war on their doorsteps: musicians and artists, students and teachers, cyberhackers, children’s hospital staff, and many others who put aside their day jobs to take up the resistance.
“Resistance: Stories from Ukraine” will be hosted by award-winning journalist Laurel Chor, who has been reporting on the ground across Ukraine. The production team also includes documentary filmmakers Nicholas Brennan (previously director at CNN’s Courageous studio) and Arman Dzidzovic (previously head of video at VICE Indonesia) as well as producers Clair Urbahn, Rowan Slaney, Soobin Kim and Giulia Franchi. Project Brazen will also publish a short documentary from Chor and Dzidzovic in May.
A second podcast from Project Brazen and PRX, “Kabul Falling,” an eight-part limited series, debuts this summer and features a kaleidoscopic set of stories from the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The series will follow a cross-section of people as their lives are upended by the Taliban’s consolidation of power across Afghanistan, giving voice to daring escapes and the tragic tales of those left behind, with storylines intersecting in unexpected ways.
After “Kabul Falling,” the next Project Brazen podcast explores the stranger-than-fiction details of corruption and betrayal in a European scandal with reverberations across the world.
