Innovative Content Studio Project Brazen Announces A New Podcast Partnership with PRX, Beginning with the Launch of “Resistance: Stories from Ukraine”

Project Brazen is expanding its relationship with PRX to release a new slate of premier podcasts in 2022–2023, underscored by impactful journalism and extraordinary narratives from around the world. “Resistance: Stories from Ukraine” will launch May 5 with weekly first-person accounts from Ukrainian citizens facing war, followed by a new series launching this summer featuring stories from the tumultuous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan

Innovative content studio Project Brazen, founded by bestselling authors and Pulitzer finalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope, today announced it has entered an overall deal with public media organization and leading audio publisher PRX to launch a slate of multiple new podcasts over the next year. This expanded partnership follows the success of Project Brazen’s “Fat Leonard,” an investigative podcast examining corruption in the U.S. Navy, which was distributed by PRX in 2021.

The debut podcast from this new partnership is “Resistance: Stories from Ukraine,” a new series produced by Project Brazen and distributed by PRX, launching Thursday, May 5th, free to listeners everywhere across all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, and Amazon Music. The twice-weekly series will feature first person accounts from Ukrainian citizens confronting war on their doorsteps: musicians and artists, students and teachers, cyberhackers, children’s hospital staff, and many others who put aside their day jobs to take up the resistance.

Resistance: Stories from Ukraine” will be hosted by award-winning journalist Laurel Chor, who has been reporting on the ground across Ukraine. The production team also includes documentary filmmakers Nicholas Brennan (previously director at CNN’s Courageous studio) and Arman Dzidzovic (previously head of video at VICE Indonesia) as well as producers Clair Urbahn, Rowan Slaney, Soobin Kim and Giulia Franchi. Project Brazen will also publish a short documentary from Chor and Dzidzovic in May.

A second podcast from Project Brazen and PRX, “Kabul Falling,” an eight-part limited series, debuts this summer and features a kaleidoscopic set of stories from the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The series will follow a cross-section of people as their lives are upended by the Taliban’s consolidation of power across Afghanistan, giving voice to daring escapes and the tragic tales of those left behind, with storylines intersecting in unexpected ways.

After “Kabul Falling,” the next Project Brazen podcast explores the stranger-than-fiction details of corruption and betrayal in a European scandal with reverberations across the world.

“Project Brazen is pushing the frontier of thrilling nonfiction storytelling, especially in podcasts,” said Bradley Hope, co-founder of Project Brazen. “In PRX, we’ve found a partner that shares a vision of how well-told journalism can change perspectives on how the world really works.”

“Project Brazen’s trademarks are fearless journalism and impactful storytelling. Their work resonates on a global scale,” said Jason Saldanha, Chief of Business Development and Content at PRX. “Partnering with independent creators who are as bold as they are creative is in our DNA. We’re thrilled to expand our podcast partnership with Bradley, Tom, and the team.”

Project Brazen is also partnering with journalists Nicky Woolf (“Finding Q”), Mitchell Prothero (formerly BuzzFeed News), Kim Ghattas (“Black Wave”), and Timothy McLaughlin (The Atlantic) on new podcasts that will be announced in coming months.

Project Brazen, based in London and Singapore, finances, produces and markets its own projects, working with production partners and journalists around the world thanks to its ground-breaking Project Brazen Content Fund, inaugurated in January 2022. It has a slate of 10 podcasts, as well as several newsletters, documentaries, feature films, and television shows under development. The company is represented by a team at United Talent Agency in Los Angeles and Levy Law in New York City.

About Project Brazen

With an exciting slate of podcasts, books, documentaries, TV shows and films in development, Project Brazen is co-founded by bestselling authors and Pulitzer finalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope. Wright and Hope were longtime collaborators at the Wall Street Journal where they wrote groundbreaking front-page stories on some of the biggest events of the day and uncovered global crime. They led the newspaper’s team that broke open the 1Malaysia Development Bhd. (1MDB) scandal, a $6 billion fraud which brought down a government and forced Goldman Sachs to pay the largest ever penalty under U.S. bribery laws. Together they co-wrote the #1 international bestseller Billion Dollar Whale (2018) about Malaysian playboy Jho Low, the fraud’s mastermind, who ensnared banks, Hollywood celebrities, and politicians in his schemes.
