The Radiotopia podcast network from PRX today announced its upcoming presence at the iconic Tribeca Festival in New York City.

Tribeca 2022 will feature two podcasts from Radiotopia on June 15 and on June 18 for live event experiences at SVA Theater in Chelsea, Manhattan, including a world premiere event of “Radiotopia Presents: My Mother Made Me.” The new personal nonfiction series from #1 NYT bestselling author and National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Jason Reynolds will explore his deep relationship with his mother. Through informal interviews and intimate conversations, they wax poetic about what she taught Reynolds as a child as it pertains to ideas around ambition, family, and purpose and how those teachings have evolved with the changing tides of their lives. This live event will feature Reynolds in conversation with “Radiolab” creator and audio trailblazer Jad Abumrad about Reynolds’ creativity, inspiration, and work. The audience at Tribeca will also be the first to hear audio from the new series.

Launching in July 2022, “My Mother Made Me” will debut via “Radiotopia Presents,” a podcast feed and home within PRX’s Radiotopia podcast network for new limited series from independent creators, in which creators retain 100% ownership and creative control of their work. “Radiotopia Presents” previously released “Blind Guy Travels” from Matthew Shifrin, which debuted at the Tribeca Festival in 2021, 2022 Peabody Award nominee “S***hole Country,” and the audio drama “a hit dog will holler.”

Radiotopia Presents: My Mother Made Me” is also an Official Selection in the narrative non-fiction category in Tribeca’s 2022 Audio Storytelling program, where it will be up for contention for a juried award when the festival is held in June.

Tribeca 2022 will also feature a live taping of “Oprahdemics,” a new podcast launched as part of Radiotopia in March 2022. Co-hosted by historians, authors, and friends Kellie Carter Jackson and Leah Wright Rigueur, with executive production from Jody Avirgan, the podcast breaks down “The Oprah Winfrey Show” while placing Winfrey and her work in historical, cultural, and critical context. Acclaimed by Vulture and The Guardian, to date, the podcast has explored the Rodney King verdict and the Los Angeles riots, a week in 2011 when Winfrey and her staff went vegan, and the seminal writing of Toni Morrison, who played a pivotal role for Oprah’s Book Club. For this live event, Carter Jackson and Rigueur will be joined on stage by Pulitzer Prize winning culture critic Wesley Morris of “The New York Times.”
