Earlier today, Sounds Profitable, a newsletter and website dedicated to podcast advertising, released “Up Next,” the first-ever Up Front in podcast format.
We loved the idea of a podcast Up Front when we first heard about it from Bryan Barletta, creator of Sounds Profitable. What better way to show off the value of the podcast medium than to utilize it? As Bryan said, “we have the opportunity to try something completely different. We have the opportunity to use the medium we know works so well to sell ad inventory to the advertisers and agencies interested in finding out more.”
Hosts Michelle Khouri of FRQNCY Media and Tom Webster of Edison Research kick off the feed with a bonus episode that explains Up Next. Each participating partner has their own “season” of seven episodes in the Up Next podcast feed. Episode one is a network pitch episode, while episodes two through six feature selections showcasing the properties that each publisher represents.
To kick off our Up Next season, Harry Clark, Chief Revenue Officer at Market Enginuity, and Kerri Hoffman, CEO at PRX, talk about PRX, what makes our shows unique, and their value to brands and advertisers. In the subsequent episodes, we showcase some of the finest and most engaging shows in our portfolio, including “Song Exploder,” “Criminal,” “The Moth,” “Snap Judgment,” and Religion of Sports’ new series on the steroid baseball era, “Crushed.”
PRX consistently ranks as one of the top five podcast publishers in the world. We represent over 90 shows that reach one of the largest and most loyal audiences in the industry. But we’re not done — we’re always spotlighting and growing our network to include more voices and stories that reflect a variety of experiences and identities and expand people’s view of the world.
PRX serves independent producers at the top of the craft, elevating what it means to be a creator. The producers we work with own their shows and are deeply protective of their audiences, engendering trust and authenticity with their listeners. And, these audience relationships extend to sponsors, resulting in value and a return on investment.
