Late June saw the Aspen Ideas Festival celebrating its 20th edition, bringing together “brilliant leaders and thinkers from around the globe to discuss the ideas that will shape tomorrow and help us understand today.”

With speakers ranging from Jane Fonda to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, a number of PRX podcast partners also joined the festival in the mountains and footpaths of Colorado to lend expertise, creativity, and contemplation.

The 2024 Aspen Ideas Festival included:

  • Earlonne Woods and Nigel Poor of Ear Hustle — the Pulitzer finalist part of PRX’s Radiotopia podcast network — leading discussions imagining shifting structures of incarceration and connection within justice-impacted families. They were joined by globally-acclaimed musician John Legend, Robin Hood CEO Richard Buery, Sundance-winning filmmaker Jessica Seinfeld, and the Executive Director of Women’s Initiatives for the New York City Department of Correction.
  • Bestselling author Kelly Corrigan of Kelly Corrigan Wonders convening personal conversations with Black Entertainment Television (BET) co-founder Sheila Johnson and accomplished journalist Nicholas Kristof.
  • TED podcaster Debbie Millman of Design Matters moderating a panel on innovation in design and how it’s in conversation with the past.
  • Long Shadow podcast host and award-winning historian Garrett Graff speaking with NASA’s administrator and others regarding the quest for life in space.
  • House for All Sinners and Saints pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber of The Confessional podcast on matters of optimism.
