PRX Forges New Podcast Partnerships with Acclaimed Independent Audio Producers Magnificent Noise, WaitWhat, and Skeptoid Media

PRX will distribute and provide sponsorship and promotional support for podcasts “This Is Dating” and “Bubble Trouble” from Magnificent Noise, “Meditative Story” and “Spark & Fire” from WaitWhat, and Skeptoid Media’s “Skeptoid”

Public media organization PRX today announced new podcast partnerships with acclaimed independent audio production companies Magnificent Noise, WaitWhat, and Skeptoid Media, beginning this month.

PRX will partner with each producer to distribute the following podcasts via PRX Dovetail, its best-in-class publishing platform: This Is Dating” and “Bubble Trouble” from Magnificent Noise, “Meditative Story” and “Spark & Fire” from WaitWhat, and “Skeptoid” from Skeptoid Media. PRX will also partner with each producer to provide sponsorship and promotional support.

“At PRX, we’re proud to work alongside ambitious, trusted audio creators who set the agenda for possibilities in podcasting,” Jason Saldanha, Chief of Business Development and Content at PRX. “We’re thrilled to partner with the creative minds at WaitWhat, the master storytellers of Magnificent Noise, and the critical experts at Skeptoid to help bring shows from each to listeners, support their goals, and to continue to bring the most premium brands to podcasting.”

Launched January 10, “This Is Dating” from Magnificent Noise reframes the quest for love. Audiences are invited to follow four modern daters as they trade the swiping and small talk for curated virtual dates. Listeners hear the good, the bad, and the awkward as dates and daters evolve. Listeners will also hear behind-the-scenes conversations and commentary with the show’s producers and behavioral scientist Logan Ury. PRX will also distribute “Bubble Trouble,” a podcast delving into inconvenient truths about how financial markets really work. Launched in spring 2021, “Bubble Trouble” is co-hosted by Will Page, the former Chief Economist at Spotify and author of “Tarzan Economics: Eight Principles for Pivoting Through Disruption,” and independent analyst Richard Kramer. Co-founded by audio industry veterans Eric Nuzum and Jesse Baker, Magnificent Noise is behind popular titles such as “Where Should We Begin? With Esther Perel” and “West Cork.”

PRX is also partnering with WaitWhat — a leading audio production company founded by June Cohen and Deron Triff, at the intersection of daily habit and human potential — on the “Meditative Story” and the “Spark & Fire podcasts.

Combining the pull of immersive storytelling with science–backed benefits of mindfulness practice, on “Meditative Story,” listeners are transported to a time and place where everything changes for them. As stories unfold, host and guide Rohan Gunatillake offers prompts to settle more deeply into details and to connect with their own observations. Gunatillake is the author of “Modern Mindfulness: How to Be More Relaxed, Focused, and Kind While Living in A Fast, Digital, Always-On World.” Guest storytellers on the show have included actor David Duchovny, Peloton instructor Robin Arzón, and designer Nate Berkus.

On “Spark & Fire,” iconic creators share the stories behind their works, demystifying the creative process while unlocking creativity and innovation for listeners. Guests have included musicians Yo-Yo Ma and Wynton Marsalis, filmmakers Rian Johnson (“Knives Out”) and Kemp Powers (“Soul”), authors Yaa Gyasi (“Homegoing”) and Susan Orlean (“The Orchid Thief”), and more.

In addition, PRX is partnering with Skeptoid Media to distribute the award-winning weekly science podcast, “Skeptoid.” While Skeptoid Media encourages science literacy and critical thinking through free, STEM-focused educational content and entertainment, “Skeptoid” launched in 2006 and has been downloaded more than 100 million times. Host and science writer Brian Dunning dives into the most popular urban legends and conspiracies to reveal the true science, history, and lessons we can learn from each. Episodes span topic areas including the environment, space, medicine, U.S. history, and more. A member of the National Association of Science Writers, Dunning has authored seven books and is also the presenter of the documentary films “Here Be Dragons,” “Principles of Curiosity,” and “Science Friction.”

This Is Dating,” “Bubble Trouble,” “Meditative Story,” “Spark & Fire,” and “Skeptoid” are available free on-demand across all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Amazon Music, NPR One, and Overcast.

PRX is a podcast partner to a number of remarkable audio and media creators, including TED, the Smithsonian, The Boston Globe, Religion of Sports, Radiotopia, The Moth, GBH, and PBS.
