PRX is pleased to announce Shona Koester as its new Chief Operating Officer.
Koester recently served as Vice President of Distribution & Content Partnerships at American Public Media (APM) where she previously held several senior management positions and established key partnerships with the BBC World Service and The New York Times. She successfully developed and expanded news and culture brands across a variety of distribution channels such as Marketplace, BBC’s NewsHour, The Splendid Table and The Daily podcast. Koester recently led the APM distribution team in achieving record national audience growth to over 21 million listeners.
“Shona will be a wonderful addition to PRX as we continue to grow and adapt to a changing media landscape,” says PRX CEO Kerri Hoffman. “She has proven experience in leading high-profile projects and cultivating strong teams. Her experience and commitment to public media will help PRX serve new audiences.”
Prior to APM, Koester worked at Chicago Public Media where she led strategic initiatives. Her for-profit and nonprofit leadership extends back to her time in the Pacific Northwest, where she owned and operated a successful sales and marketing company, ran an emergency service center and food bank for Hopelink, and led grant programs at The Pacific Science Center. She is graduate of the University of Washington.
“I have enjoyed my experiences and am proud of the work we’ve done at APM. At the same time, I’m excited to take on this role and for the future of PRX,” says Koester. “It’s a company I’ve long admired and look forward to being a part of its growth and future.”
