Upcoming podcast releases also include the following:

A Tribeca Festival Official Selection, a multi-award winning podcast in The Ambie Awards from The Podcast Academy, and named one of the best podcasts of 2024 by The New York Times, on Weight for It, Ronald Young, Jr. combines personal storytelling and deep dive interviews to unpack the world around him that just doesn’t seem to fit. New episodes include discussions and narrative storytelling pertaining to grief, air travel, Ozempic, diabetes, and fat camp. For this entertaining limited series, Hirway and Malina will watch and discuss some of their favorite political films with the same mix of analysis and humor that made The West Wing Weekly a hit. The slate includes Dr. Strangelove, In the Loop, Judas and the Black Messiah, and more, but they begin with the film that led to The West Wing, the Sorkin-penned The American President.

Co-created by McKinney and Alex Sujong Laughlin, Normal Gossip launched in 2022 and has since been downloaded millions of times in the U.S. and around the world while heralded as one of today’s best podcasts by Vulture, TIME, The New Yorker, TimeOut, NPR’s Fresh Air, TODAY, and Cosmopolitan, among others. Guests on the show have included Samantha Irby, Amanda Montell, Samin Nosrat, Sam Sanders, Avery Trufelman, and beyond. A new season will deliver new stories and surprises.

On This Day in Esoteric Political History, podcaster Jody Avirgan, historian Kellie Carter Jackson of Wellesley College, and historian Nicole Hemmer of Vanderbilt University shed light on specific days in U.S. political history to explore how it might inform the present. With episodes ranging from when Henry David Thoreau was jailed for refusing to pay back taxes in 1846 to college campus protests in 1968, upcoming themed episodes will traverse topics such as notable and strange election advertising, presidential campaigns and “October surprises” — including an episode recorded live at WBUR in Boston — and the 2024 election.

Tuesday, November 19 — A special episode from The Kitchen Sisters Present

Independent audio documentary producers Davia Nelson and Nikki Silva — The Kitchen Sisters — chronicle the lives, celebrations and struggles of people from all walks of life, weaving together a rich tapestry of America’s cultural heritage. In November, the podcast will air a story titled “The Grand Dames of American Cooking,” featuring rare interviews with legendary chefs and home cooks: Cecilia Chiang, Marion Cummingham, Ruth Reichl, Alice Waters, Niloufer Ichaporia King, and more. These kitchen visionaries have worked to preserve, develop, and pass on traditional foodways and cultural history through the art of cooking.

Additionally, The Heart from Mermaid Palace and Kaitlin Prest have released Great Love, revisiting Ashtar Theater’s Gaza Monologues written in 2010 by individuals in Palestine. The series presents the words written by teenagers living through war in Gaza more than a decade ago, layered with recordings, creations, and experiences from today. Further, Benjamen Walker’s Theory of Everything will release a mini-series regarding disinformation and the election and Radio Diaries will release a series examining the rise of talk radio in America through four dramatic personalities whose views influenced public opinion on politics, religion, and race in the 20th century.

Listeners of Nate DiMeo’s The Memory Palace can enjoy a new book based on the show published by Penguin Random House this November. “The Memory Palace wants you to linger, to stay awhile, and find a deeper meaning both in the stories of the past and perhaps in your own life as well,” praises filmmaker Ken Burns.
