Radiotopia from PRX, the award-winning podcast network for independent audio creators, today announces new series from leading indie podcasters Avery Trufelman, Ian Chillag alongside Mike Danforth, and Kaitlin Prest.

With deep roots in creative audio storytelling, Trufelman, Chillag, and Prest’s respective work has long been heard from Radiotopia. Now, the celebrated creators are bringing new series and titles to audiences in the year ahead, including:

Articles of Interest” — “American Ivy”October 2022

Created by Avery Trufelman, the show about what we wear originated in 2018 as a project of the design podcast “99% Invisible.” Now an independent production led by Trufelman and a part of Radiotopia, “Articles of Interest” will return with a new multi-part series devoted entirely to one theme: preppy clothes. The “American Ivy” podcast series — recently highlighted by New York Magazine and Vulture as one of the most anticipated podcast releases of fall 2022 — will seek to answer the question: how did the style that used to be known as “preppy” turn into what we now consider “classics”? The answer is long and complicated, and crosses international borders.

Previously, Trufelman has served as host of the podcasts “Nice Try!” from Vox Media as well as the weekly audio magazine “The Cut” from New York Magazine.

In the Scenes Behind Plain Sight” November 2022

From Ian Chillag — the creator of the beloved Radiotopia podcast “Everything is Alive” — and Mike Danforth, executive producer of NPR’s “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!”, “In the Scenes Behind Plain Sight” is a new rewatch podcast for “Behind Plain Sight”… a television show that never actually existed. It’s all made up.

In this genre-breaking series, former “Behind Plain Sight” co-stars Ian and Mike share behind the scenes stories, secrets, and memories as they rewatch and recap all 5 seasons of the hit 2002–2007 TV show. The podcast will also welcome, as special guests, Ian and Mike’s co-stars (at least the ones who will answer their calls), as well as the show’s writers, producers, and crew members (despite the fact that Ian and Mike never learned any of their names at the time). They’ll also talk about what’s going on in their lives now (not much is going on in their lives now).

Close collaborators, Chillag and Danforth are also the creators of the cult favorite advice podcast, “How to Do Everything,” which ran from 2011 through 2016.

The Heart” — TBA

Praised for its “patented brand of meditative, sound-rich explorations of intimacy and human relationships” by Vulture, “The Heart” from Kaitlin Prest features personal documentary work about love, power dynamics, and all of the invisible things in the air between humans. The show has been lauded by The New Yorker, The Financial Times, Cosmopolitan, The Globe and Mail, the Peabody Awards, and more.

In an all-new season to be announced, Prest will bring listeners a multi-part series focusing on her relationship with her sister, Natalie. A member of Radiotopia from PRX, the new season will be a special co-production with Mermaid Palace — the audio-arts company founded by Prest in 2019 — and the CBC in Canada.

“Here are three of the most exciting audio creators making podcasts today, and Radiotopia is thrilled to be their home,” said Audrey Mardavich, Senior Director of Content at Radiotopia from PRX. “Avery, Ian, and Kaitlin are masters of production and storytelling, highly compelling, and are pushing creative boundaries — making you want to spend time in their worlds, and then spread the word about them. We can’t wait for you to listen.”
