Sonos and PRX Present “This Summer of Live Music,” A Radio and Podcast Special Embracing the Power of Music to Bring Us Together
Hosted by poet and critic Hanif Abdurraqib, the special also features Grammy-winning artist Esperanza Spalding and music journalist Cherie Hu
Sonos, work x work — the creative agency behind the On Air Fest storytelling festival — and PRX are pleased to present audiences with “This Summer of Live Music,” a radio and podcast special that embraces music’s power to bring us together after a long year apart, from the acclaimed music podcast “Object of Sound.”
Hosted by best-selling author and critic Hanif Abdurraqib (“A Little Devil in America: Notes in Praise of Black Performance’’), “This Summer of Live Music” looks ahead as we welcome concerts and music back into our lives. As venues are re-opening their doors and artists are hitting the road, Abdurraqib and guests discuss how music can help rebuild communities and reflect on what it means to listen together again. Guests include Grammy-winning musician Esperanza Spalding, who recently founded the Songwrights Apothecary Lab to explore how artists can apply concepts of music therapy to their work, as well as Cherie Hu, creator of the “Water & Music” newsletter focusing on commercial, technological, and cultural change in the music industry.
“This Summer of Live Music” is available now on-demand via the “Object of Sound” podcast from Sonos.
The 59-minute “This Summer of Live Music” radio special is also available for radio, distributed by PRX. The offering is available now free to public radio stations via the PRX Exchange distribution marketplace.
