Stephanie Kuo of PRX Named 2024 Rising Star in Public Media
The honor from “Current” recognizes exceptional contributions to public media and the community
We’re pleased to share PRX’s VP of Content, Stephanie Kuo, is named by Current as one of public media’s top 35 “rising stars” of 2024.
The industry trade of public media for more than 40 years, Current launched the Rising Stars accolade in 2023 to celebrate those “poised to influence how audiences experience, engage with, or support public media.”
At PRX, Stephanie Kuo helps to oversee the sustainability of the organization’s award-winning portfolio of audio programming spanning resonant storytelling, consequential journalism, and entertainment. She’s also served as PRX’s Director of Training, spearheading multiple content development initiatives. Prior to PRX, Kuo served as a reporter for KERA in Texas, a producer for the Texas Station Collaborative, and as a producer for WFUV in New York.
“Public media, in my mind, remains the only place with enough soul and empathy for the human experience. It exists at the intersection of impact, mission, and humanity,” said Stephanie Kuo to Current.
Current received more than 170 nominations nationwide for 2024 Rising Stars consideration. 35 winners from across the country were chosen by Current staff in addition to judges including Aishah Rashied-Hyman of Public Media Women in Leadership, Eric Marsh of WHYY, strategist Vinnee Tong, journalist April Simpson of the Center for Public Integrity, and Deema Zein of PBS NewsHour.
