Christmas Gifts or Lack Of
When the holiday isn’t as special as you hoped
On the day we all waited for as kids — Christmas eve! When jolly old Saint Nick, brought us our gifts if we made the nice list.
As adults, we hope the same. We shop for our family and friends, and look for the presents they would like (in the hopes they don’t return them).
We wrap those gifts up in pretty papers & bows. Maybe find some cute bags and colored tissue paper. Either way, we take the time to make sure the presentation will match the gift.
We place them under the tree for the big reveal on Christmas Morning.
The big day arrives, and we gather the kids and some coffee to jump into Christmas presents!!
Reading the gift tags, handing them out one by one. Watching the excitement of giving the gifts. Watching the reactions and trying to find places to put the new gifts as they are opened.
You noticed the only person, who hasn’t given you a gift is the one who vowed ‘death till we part’ — your husband! He hasn’t taken the time to get you a gift. Not even a picture of something he just ordered to say on backorder. NOTHING!
What does this mean?
Has he stopped caring to even put on a simple smile and hand out a gift on Christmas morning?
Do we make excuses for why this could have happened? Then we remember, you also didn’t get a birthday present.
Is this a sign?
Yes.
We know that it’s not the gift that matters, it’s about the giving! Showing that you care.
Already having a roommate relationship, what I’d give to have someone hold me in their arms and tell me I was important to them. Feel I was special. It’s not that I ask for gifts, but even pretty flowers would be nice.
