Pursuit — The Struggle
We may learn early.
Learn about God.
Learn about obedience.
Learn about discipline.
But sometimes what we learn leaves us uncertain.
Uncertain about who God is.
Uncertain about who we are.
So, we begin to…
Search
Search for who we are.
Search for what we need.
But in this searching,
ㅤ we often lack…
Guidance
We have no help,
ㅤ no connections,
To guide our search.
To point the way.
We have behind us only damage.
Damaged relationships.
We have no…
Help
And at some point,
ㅤ we begin to question.
Question our path.
Question our ability to move forward.
To move forward alone.
So we…
Turn
Turn to others.
We look for real help.
At least we…
Try
But still we struggle.
Struggle to grow.
Struggle to accept help.
To believe help.
We simply struggle to…
Believe
For our hearts are hardened.
Walled off.
Protected.
We are…
Locked down
And even when we hear the truth…
We ignore it.
We shut it out.
And we struggle on.
Until finally…
Until one day…
Until at one critical moment…
We…
Hear
We hear,
ㅤ we respond to,
A bit of the truth.
And someone hears us.
Sees us.
Sees us searching.
Finally we are…
Seen
Finally we are…
Heard
Finally we begin to hear…
We begin to see…
Truth
And slowly,
ㅤ we begin to open.
Begin to consider the possibility.
Begin to…
Surrender
We begin to listen.
To respond.
For the first time,
ㅤ we begin to understand…
Obedience
And out of that act of obedience,
ㅤ we begin to see truth.
We begin to accept truth.
We even begin to desire truth.
To search for truth.
And in this search…
In this season…
God
Provides
Provides time.
Provides direction.
Provides a guide.
Provides a…
Mentor
A supporter.
A teacher.
A…
Brother
And finally we are ready.
Ready to live.
Ready to live as a new man.
A man of God.
Yet…
Still we find struggles.
We run into difficulties.
We are misled.
We mislead ourselves.
We don’t fully…
Follow
We don’t follow,
ㅤ we don’t pursue,
Jesus.
And we find ourselves hitting new lows.
Struggling new struggles.
Yet struggling the same struggle.
And finally we realize…
We must surrender again.
We must surrender daily.
We must remember.
We must remember who we are.
We must remember who God is.
For our struggles will continue.
But…
We have our God,
ㅤ and he is good.
We have our brothers,
ㅤ and they will walk with us.
So we must continue…
