What is Psychology in Action?

Psychology in Action is a new publication aimed at promoting work from academia, industry, and government. Far too often Psychology-related articles published in high-impact scientific journals take months (or years) to see the light of day. The goal of this publication was to provide a quick, easy, and engaging forum for all those who love, work with, and apply Psychology. If this is you — you are in the right place!

What type of content does Psychology in Action publish?

The short answer is — anything related to the application and every day use of psychological principles. We are interested in groundbreaking research in Applied Psychology, applying psychology in the government and military sectors, psychology in product design, using psychology for societal good, etc. The sub-discipline of psychology doesn’t matter — Cognition, Human Factors, I/O, Social, etc. — if you’ve got a great article about Psychology in Action, its appropriate!

Tips for writing a great article:

  1. Be short and to the point
  2. Include graphics to break up the text and engage your reader
  3. Be informal — after all, this is supposed to be a fun, engaging read — not a thesis
  4. Provide references — we always respect the work of those who came before us, even in these short, informal articles

So, how do I submit my article?

  1. Email Victoria.Claypoole@gmail.com a link to your Medium draft or published article and provide a brief description. Please do not send other formats (e.g., Microsoft Word)
  2. Our editors will review your article and provide feedback within 3 business days
  3. Once accepted, your article will go in our queue for publication — you should see your article posted within a day or two
