Today’s world is becoming cold-hearted and less kind. People prefer rationality and thinking with heads over emotions, hearts, gut feelings, intuitions, and instincts. Everybody wants to think but nobody wants to feel.

The world is becoming dull and less creative. We are raised and nurtured to make reasonable and logical decisions.

People are fearful of making decisions based on their emotions, hearts, gut feelings, intuitions, and instincts. They feel like they are making some mistakes and doubt it whenever listening to their heart.

“I have been and still am a seeker, but I have ceased to question stars and books; I have begun to listen to the teaching my blood whispers to me.”
― Hermann Hesse,
Demian. Die Geschichte von Emil Sinclairs Jugend

Using logic, and reason is linked with wisdom and smartness while using emotions is often linked with foolishness. Rationality rules our decision-making.

But don’t you know that reasoning is just a by-product of our desire to know? We want to know something, therefore we have invented reasons. But reasons are man-made concepts and can easily deceive and manipulate us.

How Reason And Society Is Killing Our Desires And Passions

People are becoming slaves of rationality and not listening to their true desires, instincts, and hearts. Everybody is running on a ready-made path designed by society.

Society gives many reasons for following their orders. We end up becoming what society wants us to be.

Mental health cases are increasing because people are forced to do what they do not truly want to do by heart.

“Instinct is a marvelous thing. It can neither be explained nor ignored.”
― Agatha Christie,
The Mysterious Affair at Styles

For example, if you resign from a big company like Google, Amazon, or Apple to play guitar on the street because your heart says to do so, your family, friends, and relatives might think you have gone mad.

According to their logic, you should stay at those big companies because the salary is good. They can label you foolish for leaving them if your decisions do not align with societal expectations.

“In order to survive in a world of instinct,
its’ alternative is to hunt or being hunted.
Reject this, then be prepared to be hunted.”
― Toba Beta,
My Ancestor Was an Ancient Astronaut

Rationality Is The True Enemy Of Creativity

Imagine, rationality instructs you to only spend 1 hour writing an essay because your client has decided to pay you $30 for it.

“In art as in love, instinct is enough. ”
― Anatole France

But when you start writing, your brain starts evoking its creativity. You will start writing more because you are in a creative flow. Now you have just finished half of it but the alarm starts ringing. Now you have quickly finished and submitted it to the client.

In this case, you get your desired money but you never enjoy writing, because your flow gets interrupted. You want to write more but your reasoning restricts your freedom and creativity.
