Elliot couldn’t find love or friends so he killed people then killed himself
If you missed the news about Elliot Rodger, he killed people in the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) area (Isla Vista). He committed murder-suicide because he felt unloved. Here is one of his videos (videos may be unavailable):

“It angers me so much to see these people having so much fun here. I’ve lived here for over a year now and it’s been such a miserable experience. I haven’t been invited to a single party, and all the girls ignore me when I walk around at night. I’m the perfect sophisticated gentleman, but these heartless girls only like to be with the obnoxious douchebags.”
The students all look very happy in the above video so I can sympathise with Elliot feeling very upset to be ostracised from this happy socialising. Sadly it seems there was nobody in Elliot’s life to guide him, to teach him how to fit in socially. Elliot was clearly an intelligent young man but he needed help. Sadly he was not sufficiently intelligent therefore he surrendered to stupidity. For whatever reason his parents could not give him the help he needed. Sadly he could not use his mind to determine how to mix with people socially.

The above video is a good example of points I often make about AI not being dangerous. The only danger to humans is a lack of intelligence. Human stupidity is the only danger. The danger is despair. AI is actually the only hope for humans but instead of enhancing this hope many people try to create fear and despair regarding AI. The consequence of generating despair is human-danger, human-threats, human despair regarding deficient intelligence, prolonged stupidity.

There was a sensitive side to Elliot, extremely nice, which I thought was very evident in some of his videos, but it is also important to highlight his nasty side. Perhaps metaphorically I was looking at the thin person inside every fat person. It reminds me of the film Shallow Hal.
Elliot could have been a very special person with the correct education, guidance, parental advice-wisdom, but sadly his mind became warped. His personality was twisted by frustrations into stupid actions. Elliot’s intelligence floundered. He ironically became one of the stupid “obnoxious douchebags” he vehemently hated.
Elliot’s descent into irrationality is clear regarding is racial hatred and misogyny. Southern Poverty Law Center reported on Elliot’s postings to a site called puahate. Elliot allegedly wrote:
“Full Asian men are disgustingly ugly and white girls would never go for you. You’re just butthurt that you were born as an asian piece of shit, so you lash out by linking these fake pictures. You even admit that you wish you were half white. You’ll never be half-white and you’ll never fulfill your dream of marrying a white woman. I suggest you jump off a bridge.”
The urge to breed, the desire to copulate, can be a very powerful desire in young adults. It is a fundamental natural urge similar to eating, although unlike eating people can survive without copulating. A sufficiently intelligent human can rise above natural urges. Our brains can be a powerful force to control of urges. Elliot’s unfulfilled desires led to irrationality.
It reminds me of the film Dune where Paul Atreides is tested by a Bene Gesserit witch. Paul must put his hand into a box where he will feel great pain, if he removes his hand the witch will kill him with a poison for animals. Paul is outraged at the suggestion he is an animal. The witch replied to Paul’s outrage:
Let us say I suggest you may be human. Your awareness may be powerful enough to control your instincts. Your instinct would be to remove your hand from the box. If you do so, you die. You will feel … an itching … there! Now, the itching becomes burning. Heat upon heat upon heat.
Paul passed the test, he lived:
“Take your hand from the box, young human, and look at it.”
If you feel the urge to kill people think deeply. Perhaps the Bene Gesserit litany against fear will help you bear the pain:

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Elliot did have some brightness, but in conclusion he is only a moronic dick. With all the money his privileged life gave him he couldn’t find the intelligence to find some peace of mind, instead he wanted to be a God, which is exceedingly moronic indeed.
