Spend Your Money at A Spa, Not Vapours

Imagine those candles are the champagne sparklers at Vapour, except they aren’t. You are also not standing on couches lip syncing Bad and Boujee. Instead you’re completely relaxed and not worried about your friends being gated outside. This is a win for you.

This year I have decided to take care of myself. Self-care 2017 to the max. However, I am weary of it becoming something I say I want to do without actually practicing. As busy people, we struggle to take time for ourselves even though we know we need and deserve it.

I’ve decided this year I am going to go to a spa every quarter. I would go more often, but monies.

Going to a spa forces you to focus on yourself and your wellness. There are proven health benefits of going to spas and it is also considered to prevent health concerns from arising.

Like I mentioned, going to a spa is expensive. However, sometimes we have to think about how much we truly value our wellness. The same goes for a gym membership or therapy sessions. How much do we value our mental health? So I may only be able to go to a spa every three months, but there are a lot of DIY treatments I can do myself too in the mean time.

Nevertheless, I wanted to share some of the more affordable spa treatments that I’ve found in Lagos under N10,000:

  1. Ajali Spa offers a 45 minute deep tissue massage for N8,500
  2. BMS Spa offers a 30 minute reflexology massage for N7,000
  3. Scratch and Socials offers a 60 minute luxury pedicure for N6500

All of this is to say that there are affordable options available to us, and if we are going to spend our hard earned money, we should spend it on things that are truly good for us — mind, body and soul.
