PRX is excited to announce that Radiotopia has been named one of Fast Company’s ‘Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Media’, as part of its annual World’s Most Innovative Companies feature.

From the article:

Many thought the rise and fall of “Serial” may have pointed to a podcasting bubble. Market research, however, tells a different story. Edison Research has shown that interest in podcasts — as well as awareness of what they are — has increased steadily over the last few years. Podcasting consortias like PRX’s Radiotopia are what help bring these mobile audio projects to the mainstream.

Radiotopia launched in 2013 as a podcasting network hosting innovative audio storytelling. It’s ballooned from seven podcasts to 16, with a seventeenth soon on its way. The Public Radio Exchange, which owns Radiotopia, sees over 20 million downloads a month. And Radiotopia spent 2016 helping to provide podcasting enthusiasts with the skills to build out their own programs. The consortium launched a year-long search for the next show it would produce and received 1,500 pitches from dozens of countries. Through this popular search program, Radiotopia was able to distribute information about podcasting resources. By not only finding new programs and bringing on millions of new listeners every year, but also providing ways to make podcasting accessible to the masses, Radiotopia is helping to bring about a new generation of audiophiles.
