“Media that’s targeted at you but doesn’t include you, may not be worth sitting still for.” — Clay Shirky at Web 2.0 Expo.

Publica book token sales include you. In fact, they need you.

Express yourself, speak up. Bring your friends and make new ones. After all, rallying around a good book or author is something people have always enjoyed, even cherished. It makes the books better. It makes you better.

You know what to do.

Don’t wait around for the targeting robots to find you. Don’t let them define you — define yourself. Let the robots follow you to the authors you’re supporting in book token sales. Let the robots find like-minded people and introduce you. (Politely, please, we’ll ask the robots when we want their help.)

Lead your own tribe. Join the tribes you like. Lead each other to the book tokens that matter. It’s fun.

Shirky’s talk is a good watch. Here’s a shortcut to “Media that’s targeted at you…”

90 seconds later, a nice ending — “…could we make a good thing happen? And I’m betting the answer is Yes.”
