Tutorial: How to buy a book from the book catalog on Side Chain (Publica on Quorum)

In order to buy a book from the Publica's online catalogue using Side Chain (Publica on Quorum), follow these steps.

First, you will need to install the MetaMask extension for your browser.

Install MetaMask extension

1. Open MetaMask.io website or search for “Metamask extension” in your favorite browser (you can install Metamask for Chrome, Firefox and Opera browsers).

In this tutorial, we are demonstrating how to install MetaMask extension for Chrome.

2. Click Add to Chrome to install MetaMask as Google Chrome extension.

3. Click Add Extension.

You have successfully installed MetaMask extension. That was easy, isn’t it? Now, it is time to add a custom network!

Connect “Publica on Quorum” to MetaMask extension

When the account is created, you are now able to connect the Side Chain (aka Publica on Quorum) to your MetaMask.

1. Click on the network.
2. Select “Custom RPC”.

3. Fill in the fields:

• Network name: Any name (but we prefer Publica on Quorum)
• RPC: geth.quorum.publica.com
• ID: 1337

4. Click Save.

5. Click Add Network.

6. Make sure the newly added network is selected

After the network is connected and chosen, import your Side Chain wallet (the one you created in the Publica on Quorum app!) to MetaMask.

Don't try to import a wallet created on the Ethereum blockchain — Side Chain (Publica on Quorum) and Ethereum are completely independent blockchains and you will not be able to import other network's wallet.

1. Click on the Account icon in the upper right corner
2. Click Import account.
3. Paste the private key.
4. Click Import.

That’s it! Your Publica on Quorum wallet has been successfully imported!

Now when you have a MetaMask extension installed, the Side Chain (Publica on Quorum) added to Metamask, and your Side Chain wallet imported, you would want to see your tokens displayed in the wallet. To do so:

1. Click on the burger menu icon
2. Click Add Token
3. Click Custom Token
4. Paste the following data:

• Token contract address: 0xd5680d1f3d8b2f288c3d790e573ebf56ff3db799
• Token Symbol: PBL
• Decimals of Precision: 18

5. Click Next

That’s it! If you already have any Publica on Quorum tokens on your wallet, you'll see the corresponding amount straight away! You can now purchase books.

Purchase books in Publica on Quorum

1. Open Publica Catalog — https://shop.quorum.publica.com/catalog
2. Find a book you would like to buy and open it.
3. Select the number of copies and click Buy.
4. Click Purchase to proceed.
5. Click Confirm.
6. Click Confirm again.
7. Click Done.

That's it! You have successfully purchased a book on the Side Chain (Publica on Quorum).
