3. An Accidental Athlete by John Bingham

VeloPress, 2011

Suggested by @jeeyv604

In this warm and witty memoir by John Bingham, the author recalls his childhood dreams of athletic glory replaced by years of sedentary unhealthy excess until two trips to the emergency room resulted in his life-changing transformation to a runner. Heart-breaking but also hilarious, this book chronicles one man’s discovery that middle age is just the beginning, and not the finish line.
