We’re finally entering Phase One of post-circuit breaker, although it’ll be some time yet before we can welcome visitors to our libraries. In the meantime, we hope you’ll continue supporting our libraries by staying home and enjoying our programmes online.

Singapore Literature Book Club: Trafalgar Sunrise by Danielle Lim | Zoom

11 June 2020 (Thurs)
8:00 pm to 9:30 pm

Singapore Literature Book Club discusses books by both well-known and emerging Singapore authors, touching on topics close to home. In June, the book club will be discussing the book, Trafalgar Sunrise by Danielle Lim.

Trafalgar Sunrise is possibly the first work of fiction that intimately explores leprosy and SARS in Singapore — two frightening illnesses that led to its sufferers being quarantined. Although the characters in the novel are fictional, the backdrop of events and places — the SARS epidemic, Trafalgar Home, leprosy and its cure — are real and important facets of Singapore’s history.

Danielle Lim’s first book, The Sound of SCH: A Mental Breakdown, a Life Journey, was co-winner of the Singapore Literature Prize 2016 (Non-fiction). Published in 2014, the memoir has been translated to Chinese and published in Taiwan. Her second book and first work of fiction, Trafalgar Sunrise, was published in 2018.

Glimpse into the process of iterative design as we design a virtual camera jig using free 3D Modelling software Tinkercad!

Join us as we explore solving design problems by quickly creating multiple versions of the camera jig and testing it to find out the pros and cons of each design.

During this workshop, we will also be taking questions from participants about their own journey designing things. We will also share some tips on settings to use while 3D printing prototypes.

This programme is suitable for beginners.
